I’m so glad you came to my website to learn more about Belize! Belize is such a cool country with lots of culture. Did you know that Belize is in Central America? That means it is in between North America, where you live, and South America.

The islands in Belize are called Cayes (pronounced “keys”) and total around 450 including those on the outer atolls.

Belize has the only Jaguar reserve in the world, otherwise known as Cockscomb Basin Wildlife sanctuary.

Belize has around 900 Mayan sites.

There is no McDonalds, Burger King, Starbucks or KFC in the entire country of Belize but are mostly available in the rest of Central America. The most popular foods in Belize are stewed chicken, rice and beans and seafood.

Belize is the only Central American country where English is the official language. However, English is spoken mostly in Belize City while the rest of the country speaks Spanish, Creole, Garifuna and Mayan languages. Many people from other Central American countries that can be dangerous move to Belize and make it the melting pot it is- a mix of Caribbean and Central American.

Belize is one of the least populated countries in the world. The whole country has a little more than half the amount of people that the city of Seattle has.

The Blue Hole is a sink hole near the "Lighthouse Reef." The Lighthouse reef is so big it can be seen from space! The reef houses many endangered and rare species of sea-life.

The tallest building in Belize is a Mayan temple built around 1200 BC!

Money in Belize is called the Belize Dollar. The exchange rate is 2BZ = 1USD. So for any price listed at the store, you divide by 2 to find how much it costs in US Dollars.
Belize is a wonderful place but, like every country, there are a lot of problems too. I work with kids in Belize, mostly kids that live in really hard situations and in poverty.
Being a missionary is a rewarding job because I get to help people and teach people about Jesus but there is a lot of things you need in order to be successful at bringing people to Christ.
